Villa Emma blends the rigour of a “Stazzu” – the local rural building – with modern house design principles. It features an open floor plan to allow the perfect flow between the outdoor and indoor spaces.
It resembles the quintessential Sardinian rural house both in its simple rectangular shape with a pitched roof and its internal room distribution, which is characterised by the bedrooms being located on the longest side.
Mario Mazzer Architects managed to capture the expressive potential of the materials by creating new finishes for different spaces and according to their use. The villa interior decor consists of pure lines and mostly dark but, at the same time, warm tones.
Both the design process and the execution phases have been marked by the use of technology combined with a creative and experimental approach, the search for maniacal precision and highly specialised craftsmanship.
